Alchemists at Work

This short video was produced in occasion of the Alchemists at Work Day at York St. John University. The event was organised by Kay Hepplewhite, an experienced applied theatre practitioner and lecturer who is conducting an in-depth research on teaching and learning resources for applied theatre students.

The event involved many different interesting realities within the community theatre scene and students were actively engaged in discovering how professionals work, what are the ingredients of a form of art that is based on empathic communication and partecipative dynamics.

With several workshops running at the same time the event was rich and complex, and the video is a collection of key moments in which something magic happened. The aim of the video is to recreate the atmosphere of the event, rather than documenting each workshop individually. We have used an evocative music and a video-clip style to produce a poetic recollection of the day.
